Id like to use the ‘Alternative’ method but it appears the Mk3 Kuga version of Sync 3 has or can have serious problems. So Im sticking with what works and probably invest in a SatNav as per NigelB
As I said not bothering to update Sync/maps.

Whilst Google maps works fine I still like to use my Tom Tom. Lifetime free updates of maps etc. Also good as warns about speed cams and speed average cameras and shows your average speed too. Like to be able to able to create a list of places I intend to visit on a trip too.

Keep an eye on Halfords as they often have trade-in deals where they accept ANY SatNav for a discount.

I got a broken one on eBay for £6.00 and used it to get a £122.00 discount!

Not good though is it, spend £40k on a car and Ford can’t provide confidence in updating software or firmware., yet they provide the options to do it, but it doesn’t work.👍
Indeed, not good. Not confined to Ford though, friend has a VW and there has been issues with updates too. Suspect if you looked a forums for other manufacturers there might well be similar posts.
