Does anyone know what the number of the latest map update is? After the CEOs office 'fixed' my sync update it gave me a map update to download, which I did and it went through what appeared to be an install and gave me a log file, which wont go to Ford(suprise). I looked again at the website and redownloaded the map update in case there was a problem and the 'new' one has a different serial number (23884300329) and 18 files. This gives me an 'installation failed Mem_err03' message. Is this update f11 or f12?

I had the same problem a while ago, the MEM ERR03 message I think means that your SYNC memory cache is full and will not accept your last download. I was told by Ford to do a master reset to clear the system. This I did and I still got the same error message. I was still confused what to do and also Ford were confused as well.My own analysis came to the conclusion that one of the previous updates was flawed. It took Five months before Ford played around with their servers to get my SYNC up to a fully updated level. Have a look on your car settings on the SYNC about and let us know what your existing product build SYNC number is and your Maps number. As an afterthought! If you got an xml log file from your first download but cannot send the log file back to the Ford servers, then that download has been successfully installed. Until the log file has been accepted then you will not be allowed to do another map update on top of the previous one. That is my understanding of what the problem could be. I would not bother doing the master reset but try and get Ford to accept the log file from the first installation.

My Sync build version is 22251 and maps are F11. I am having email contact with CEOs office over this. They fixed the sync update to allow the maps download, which gave me the logfile which wont go to Ford. I am waiting for a response tomorrow (Monday). It is so annoying that such a simple procedure is so messed up. Even MS does it better.

Don’t hold your breath getting a quick answer from Ford ! I waited 5 months before getting a quick answer to my SYNC issues. Your SYNC product build and F11 maps is exactly the same as mine and Ford have said my SYNC system is fully up todate, albeit there is F12 maps which has not yet been offered to me.

I did our the other day.

4 hours download.
1 hour to unzip to usb stick.
1.5 hours to install

All done whilst I was doing other stuff or driving. No issues and all legit.

I have just checked my ford account and found that maps are now showing as up to date. Ford CEOs office seem to have got their techs to upload my sync file. Now waiting for it all to start all over again when F12 appears :)

I was advised not to open the logfile with MS Edge, but to use Notes instead and saved file from there. Lo and behold, maps update logfile uploaded without the error message! Still shows that Maps update is available, which Ford tell me is nothing to worry about.
Same solution worked on the wife's Puma and daughter's Fiesta.

Not being tech savvy how do you save the xml log file to notes ?. A quick novices guide would be helpful.

Right click on the logfile on the USB stick, select 'Open with', and then select Notepad. When the file has opened in Notepad, select Save As, and then save to Documents (or to Desktop, whichever you find easier).
When you try to upload to Ford, browse to your save location and (fingers crossed!) it should upload without a problem.
Good luck.

What I forgot to mention is that when I tried to report the problem online on the 3 cars, I was told that my wife and daughter had to report theirs themselves, which they duly did.
My wife and I both got a 'Sorry you've had a problem, try using the attached extractor file' reply, my daughter got a 'Sorry you've had a problem, our tech guys will sort this out for you in the next few weeks, and here's a £100 Amazon voucher' !!

I got my reply from ford which was.
Good afternoon Darren,

In the mean time I have the latest software on but a corrupt file on the d stick and no way of updating the maps

In the meantime I think I have aged a couple of years whilst others have been trying to install the latest version of sync and maps. Ford need to hand over whoever handles software updates on their behalf as it is an embarrassment especially when the alternative option of updating sync and maps is done without issue in less than an hour.

Strange though how dealers manage to be able to update the system correctly.

At present I'm not bothering updating sync or maps anymore. Sync connects to phone OK so can make/receive calls. Radio works fine. If I don't have my Tom Tom with me and I need to navigate somewhere I connect my phone and use Google maps which works fine.
