My Kuga has very suddenly developed the well known ABS problem. The problem results in many messages coming through the system. The computer does not appear to be working and the ABS and the Stability Control warning lights come on. I have had several messages:- front camera is not working, active city stop is not working, etc.
The computer readout usually gives 4 bits of information when working:- miles done since reset, mpg, miles left in tank, instantaneous fuel usage (either mpg or g/hr if stopped). When the problem is in action it only gives the instantaneous read out in g/hr. Presumably this indicates that the distance is not been measured but fuel used and time are. From what has been said in previous posts this all points to the wheel sensors not recording distance.
The problem is also intermittent. When I do a sharp turn left the system starts working again. I think this probably means it is a front wheel sensor but is it left or right? I have looked at one of the rear sensors with the car jacked up and they are very difficult to access. So I may have to accept using a local garage.
Any comments welcome
