Hi All,

My battery is clearly end of life, it's a 2018 model so no surprises there but it seems a bit pushed back in the engine bay and I was wondering if its an easy DIY job or should I get Halfords to fit it?

Cheers

Unplug MAF sensor
Remove 2 jubilee clips for induction hose and remove
Unclip flap holding air box to scuttle panel
Remove airbox….just lift it vertically
Unclip Xmas tree clips holding wiring to front of battery box
Two nuts holding battery clamp down, so undo
Undo positive clamp on battery
Undo negative wire to strut top
Lift up front of battery box and this will allow it to fall forward
Battery will then be able to be pulled out
Remove negative clamp from battery and fit to your new battery and reverse steps

Might sound a lot, but believe me, once you’ve done it once, you will fly through it the second time…..if you ever need to do it again that is 😂

Halfords = NO as said above. It has been reported they insert a battery pack into the OBD port to retain power whilst the battery is being swapped. There is no need to do this and caused one member some problems. The OBD port is there for diagnostics and not a port to retain power.

Other issues with them is several members have found them extremely unwilling for them to honour their battery warranty.

If memory serves, the last time I was under a bonnet doing something meaningful it was fitting a twin downdraught webber carb to my Ford Escort Pinto engine! There was nothing I wouldn't tackle back then, mainly because having a Haynes manual, the exuberance of youth and no money meant I had to, but a lifetime of company cars means I am no mechanic these days, so I've decided to let my garage change the battery while he does the engine and gearbox oil change.
Cheers all

Just as a follow up, I did let my garage fit the new battery, we didnt do the gearbox oil change as the mechanic said it wasn't necessary at 20k, so just the engine oil, all was done well, however I was a bit shocked at the £120 bill. Next time I will definitely do it myself!

I purchased a battery from Halfords and ........ The battery failed after 2yrs.
I think that says a lot about the quality of batteries from Halfords.Thank goodness for the 4yr cover.

I have just purchased a YUASA YBX7096 from 'Battery Charged' at £101.56 including VAT and Delivery which I thought was pretty competitive. I have dealt with these people before, have always had really good service from them and would be happy to recommend them.

I know in colder weather I’m in the routine of pressing 4 buttons upon start up
Stop/start
Heated steering wheel
Heated seats x2
Don’t know about others

Same as our Puma plus turn off lane assist.

I'm a relative newbie at car servicing, but managed to replace the battery on my Kuga ST-line 2.0 AWD. It took about 2 hours in total, but I just took it slow and steady. No real problems to speak of, except that the battery I purchased was longer than the one I removed, and it needed a bracket removing from the battery tray before it would fit. It seems that Ford have made the battery tray adjustable so that it will accept at least 2 different sizes of battery. I just bought the largest capacity battery I could get from the internet, with the assumption that it would provide the most power when needed.

Had my battery out today to replace the thermostat housing & took some photos of info on battery while out as don’t know the history of it.
On the negative terminal it has these numbers is that right 2015 & voltage reading of 12.57 which was the resting reading?
Many Thanks.
