Your figures are pie in the sky compared to how many others make use of the PHEV Functionality
Many others != All.

Do your own calculations… for your own situation.

Cost/KwH * 12 * 30 * 3

that’s 12KW (max charge of the PHEV), 30 days in a month, 3 months until “Q2”. I used 30 miles of EV as an over exaggerated average. Because anyone getting 30 miles of EV in this weather is driving like a tortoise.

Given the Kuga doesn’t fast charge, you could realistically only charge twice in a day. So even if you double or triple your figures, it’s not going to be thousands.

This then goes back to my previous theory about Ford taking all this into account when releasing this letter. Understanding only 1% will moan like we are and Ford riding off into the sun.

From the number of posts in other sections of the forum it appears the 12 volt battery drain has been an issue for a lot of customers, they should have made this a recall FOC.
Some 12 volt batteries seem to last less than 2 years if you are lucky, keep mine topped up with a battery charger a couple of times a week but that should not be necessary on a car of this price.
As I have previously reported the part number of the Kuga 12v battery his been raised to revision C . I have kept the 2 previous batteries that I had to replace. The new rev C battery has almost 50% more capacity. I was told by the Ford Service manager that this would cure my battery problems which it appears to have done. So the issue was an underrated battery being used in the design. I am started recovery action for my costs ( Ford did pay for my first battery change) . Also Fod dealers have been told not to bother referring 12v battery issues to Ford.

For me it’s all about not being ABLE to use the car for the reason I bought it for, a plug in hybrid. 72 plate st line PHEV

And being pedantic if you did charge twice a day the second charge would be MUCH more expensive than the '6p' overnight rate.

As I and you have pointed out some will be completely unaffected, some will have a small financial cost and a some will have more (none of which can be quantified until the car is fixed).

And you will be able to use it soon. Until you know when your car is fixed any talk of financial loss is a complete guess.

Being able to use it or not means nothing in reality - you either do or don't and the only actual loss you can suffer is financial (which is currently unquantifiable)

So you seem to know more than most regarding the “fix” when will this happen? Also if I wanted to change my car i can not, because has Ford customer support said NO dealer wound buy a car they can’t sell. 72 plate st line phev

Can you please enter your Kuga details into your signature,,as requested by your welcome email and in post #328

Ironically I bought my PHEV as I planned to move house and install a charger (current house isn't suitable) and have an electric commute during the week and use the petrol hybrid for the weekends longer journeys.

That's scuppered now, but so is the house move so my first steps into electric ownership have been a bit rubbish

Its not too bad for me, I was using a petrol auto every day and effectively I'm still doing the same so the fuel bills are roughly the same, unlike people on here who have been using the PHEV side of the car regularly

Next car will be 100% petrol again, can't be bothered with all the hassle as electric/hybrid is still an evolving technology. Just need to find something as nice as the Kuga with all the same toys!

You don't need a specific charger for the Kuga, in fact the charge rate is slower than an EV charger can supply. All you need is a 13A socket within reach of the car for the 'granny' charger. Even without charging the PHEV is much better than a petrol in terms of economy - as good as a diesel without all the problems with modern diesels and short journeys.

Yes, unfortunately my current house layout would mean plugging the granny charger into a long extension lead to reach the nearest 13am socket, probably not recommended!

There is always the Focus (ST) Estate, but not being a SUV means it sits lower to the floor, which unfortunately, doesn't suit everyone. This is what I will be doing when the time is right. Shame as I like the higher position of the Kuga, but just doesn't offer the correct engine I'm after.

Not factual at all.

As I've already mentioned.

I pay £0.06.6p per KW and make mostly 30 mile round trips.
That's a big difference to your inaccurate figures.

Do you work for Ford?
Trying to play down users genuine concerns and raised costs 🙄
In actual fact it's actually more expensive than that! Because if you have a low tariff rate during the night, you pay extra for your electricity during the day! I did the calculations for me and there wasn't a significant cost benefit charging at night, even assuming you do your washing and dishwasher during the cheap off peak time. So I never bothered! But those who did, will be charged more for their electricity, without benefiting from cheap off peak charging! So for those on a cheap tariff and charge regularly. They will be hit with a double whammy of higher fuel bills and higher electricity bills.

Whilst this is true, this isn't Ford's problem/fault. Anyone who doesn't have a specific EV/Overnight tariff is likely not plugging in daily.

@GoldenWonder
It is possible to purchase heavy Duty extension leads if I remember correctly the longest length is 10 mtrs, been using a 5 mtr one without any issues, checked the plugs after hours of charging and they are not even warm, this is using a granny lead, no idea if they can be used with a wall box.
