Thanks peeps, I've booked it in at the local Ford garage and will update on what they say.....

So I took my car to Ford for them to investigate. They said that it needs several updates, these were carried out and now my reported range has gone up and (fingers crossed) seems to be behaving much better and as expected. I still get the range drop off as you would expect in cold weather but nowhere near as much and it seems to report the range far better than it did before. Worth doing if anyone else has the problem. 👍👍
