I have a 67 reg Mk2 Titanium X . It has the LED day time running lights.
If I park up and put the parking lights on they dont seem to be working unless I open a door or put the ignition on.
They did use to work when I put the light switch to parking / sidelight position and then got out of the car and locked it, the parking lights used to stay on....now they go out as soon as I shut the door.
Is it possible that if the battery capacity is low that the parking lights will not work to conserve battery power ?. The reason that I ask this is because since I’ve had the car the auto stop/start has only worked a hand full of times...summer or winter.
I recently purchased a battery charger that will cycle charge a stop/start battery....it took around 6 hours to do the cycle charge. Even then the auto stop/start function never worked after I fully charged the battery.
The car is actually still under the manufacturers warranty....but I just know from experience with the dealership that they will try and squirm in every direction rather than replace the battery.
I seem to have gone off track a bit....so just to clarify my question....
can a low battery stop the parking light from functioning correctly ?
The car always starts fine...even in the sub zero temperatures I’ve had here recently, but the lights will only come on if the ignition is on or engine running etc.
If it is the battery and they won’t change it....then what would the cost of a fitted new battery be in a Ford dealership ?
