Folks

My Kuga is just over two years old, my dealer has informed me the suspension struts are only covered for one year as they are a wear & tear part. No mention in the warranty booklet that Macpherson struts are only covered for a year. Any one know diffrent or has experienced the same problems?

Thanks for the quick positive response. I have since called Ford Customer Support and talked at length with a very nice lady called Sue. She confirmed that the strut was a wear and tear part and only covered by a years warranty. After saying my piece which included the part could not possibly be fit for purpose etc and do you class an engine as a wear & tear part? She agreed to consider the warranty claim after an assessment report has been submitted by A/C. She even booked the car into A/C on Tuesday (was not in the mood to argue where the car was going) after Ford review the report they will give me a decision. She gave me an incident number and a direct phone number to herself. She promised to do her best to get this sorted to my satisfaction. I asked for a written letter from Ford detailing that MacPherson Struts and shock absorbers are not covered in the extended 3 year warranty (not an unreasonable request) she was not keen on that idea instead stating lets wait for the evaluation first.

I will keep you posted on how things develop. This is hassle I could do without.

Thanks for the links, no mention of the Macpherson struts in the 1 to 3 years classic warranty, however they are specifically excluded in the 4th and 5th year available extensions.

I can't believe I'm having all this hassle with a piece of mind warranty as Ford put it. I think I will write to Ford Customer Service asking for a written statement that the struts are only covered for one year.

Ford have agreed to split the replacement cost 50 / 50 at ÂŁ106.20 to me. I have accepted this, waiting for the part to be delivered to my dealer.

Not going to believe this, took the Kuga to A/C yesterday afternoon for the warrantywork. it was booked in for today. (We stay 25 miles away it was easier to drop off the car the night before) To be told the parts were on back order!!!!!!!!! They said they were just about to phone to cancel the appointment!!!!!!!!

Kuga fixed at last, went in Tuesday last week, should have been ready the same night. Because AC ordered the wrong hydraulic oil and the correct oil was not bog standard stuff, did not get the Kuga back until theThursday afternoon.

Everything fine now, let's hope no more problems

AWD warning light came on and would not go off, apart from that no indication anything was wrong, as far as I could tell car was running normally. I will say however, when I cleaned the leaking oil from the brake sensor or whatever it is on the strut the light went off. A/C still changed the pump though.
