The Ford app notified me that the was a sync map update went to the update site and downloaded the update file and a copy of the instructions but I am somewhat confused

The instructions say need the following files on my usb stick

The folder with the title “SyncMyRide”
• One file “autoinstall.lst”
• One file “DONTINDX.MSA

once I have unzipped all the files there is more than one folder called SyncMyRide

Do I need all these files and the

autoinstall.lst”
DONTINDX.MSA

TIA

You don't unzip all the files. The only file you need to unzip is the actual download file and NOT each individual file within the sync my ride folder.

The first root of the usb should look like this. First root is when you install a usb drive on your laptop and click the drive letter or whatever your usb stick is called, is the first window of what it shows what's on the drive.

sync my ride (yellow folder)
autoinstall.lst
DONTIDX.MSA

Your usb stick needs to have an MBR partition. SanDisk will be MBR by default. If you are not sure what yours is then do this.

Start
Right click
Disk Management
Right Click Disk 1 (that should be your usb stick)
Properties
Hardware
Select Disk 1 / USB

As you can see mine shows Master Boot Record (MBR).

If yours is GUID then it isn't going to load. I can tell you how to convert GUID to MBR but info is easy to follow from Google. You can do it using windows "Diskpart" software.

Given up on map update. Have done a couple of journeys of 2-2.5 hrs and it hasn't completed. Google maps or Waze via Android Auto is better
Since I purchased my Kuga in April 2021 I have done a couple of sync and map updates. Both times Sync took about 15 minutes but map updates were close to 3 hours each time if memory serves me right.

For me the folder "SyncMyRide" is missing after unarchiving the root zip. I manually created the folder and put the archives into it.
Also, the file "DONTINDX.MSA" was missing and I've created an empty file with that name.
After this I put everything on the freshly formatted USB Drive(exFat) and I have the following structure:
  • SyncMyRide(folder with archives),
  • DONTINDX.MSA,
  • autoinstall.lst
Maybe this info helps others.
Will do the update today or tomorrow and will get back when I have any updates of the finish status.
