@Plod thinks it is T50. I will re-check next time I am under the car but if you get under beforehand please do clarify for us all and I will update the original article.

It also may be that some cars are different to others, it's not unusual for aftermarket plugs to be fitted with different heads. A standard set of hex and torx bits should suffice.
It's a TP50 (Torx Plus 50, and even that is a tad small...so a TP52 if such a thing exists).

Has anyone found a synthetic gear oil that specifically meets this spec "Ford WSP-M2C197-A and SAE 80W/90"?

Great arcticle well worth posting .I have done the engine ,gearbox and PTU but the rear diff has me baffled ,I have tried all the obvious "ends and torx " to no avail t45, t50 ,t55 ,hex and 3/8" square and none fit so I think my only chance is to drill the crossmember .I have tried to take a Macro photo but it is too blurred .
I gave up for the weekend but will face it with renewed vigour come Monday ,if the PTU is any indication it will need some love and care .
Using my fingertip it feels more likely it is not square .
Get 1 or 2 wooden wedges and jam them in to create more space; then take a pic with your phone. Drilling through a structural area like a cross member could be asking for trouble.
