Could be any of a multitude of reasons from something minor to a major fault.
The first pass (you don't say what year or engine) is to go to your dealer (if under warranty) or a good independent garage to get the fault codes read to determine what triggered the light.
It's a mk 2 1.5 petrol automatic 2015 , the light came o a few weeks ago but went off , I've had the car only 2 months and got it from stoneacre so I might give them a call tomorrow , and thanks for your help
Give them a call in the morning. The light can come on when something as simple as an oil change is needed (hopefully) or where there is a major component failure.
If the car has not gone into 'limp' mode it is probably something simple to remedy.
Cheers I'll be ringing them up in the morning I just hope there open and not broke up for xmas
