Failure to bleed after fuelfilter changed

I changed the fuel filter today. The car was on fairly level ground, filled the filter housing with fuel and put everything together. But now there is air in the system that I can not get out. Maybe I need to build a bleeding tool...

I'm out of ideas. And I need to leave the house tomorrow evening. This seems to be a challenge this time.

That would have worked if the fuelline coming from the tank would have been full of fuel. But the air was blocking it. Over the years I've noticed that if the fuel has reached the filter, then there is no problem. But if the air is between the tank and filter, then there is a problem.

Anyhow this is what I did.

Took a glass can that had a threaded cover. Drilled 2 holes in the cover. In one hole I put a hose and on the other hole I put the vaquum cleaner. Then the free end of the hose on the bleeder cap on top of the filter housing. Turn it open a few turns and turn the vacuum on.
This sucks the air out and in the same time pulls the fuel from the tank to the filter housing.
Once you see a consistent flow of fuel to the can, turn the bleeder cap until is it closed. Then turn off the vacuum. Then I loosened the line that goes to the fuel rail(where the 4 injector lines are).
That line is on the right side of the motor next to the fuel rail. You can't miss it once you follow the plastic fuel line. After loosening it a few turns I cranked the motor about 5 sec. And closed the line.
Once done it started in a couple of seconds.

The main thing I was lacking yesterday was the sucking device.
This idea I got from searching the internet for a while. Maybe someone finds it will help out.
Sure helped me.

Thanks.

Actually this searching on the internet raised a question.

Everywhere I looked people said that most new diesels have 2 fuel filters.
Primary and secondary. Now I've never head of such thing on a Kuga.
Is this true or not? Also did not find anything from the manuals.
