Hi, any advice would be greatly appreciated, my problem started November last year, total battery drain, the display panel behind the wheel wasnt shutting off and draining the battery, took it into ford who said I needed a new bluetooth module and a new audio system, £4.5k. I told them to disable the bluetooth and take out the audio system, as I thought I could get a new one much cheaper off ebay. I got around to dealing with it January, the car had been running ok, no problems for about 6 /7 weeks. I found the audio system on ebay and contacted the seller who was local, I told him the problem, and he said its a common problem with Kugas, and that I didnt need a new audio system, just extra memory I think and that he could do that for me no problem and much cheaper, so he did and the car was running ok for 3-4 weeks, then the battery was dead again, and I needed a new alternator, which was done. Roll on another few weeks, and the battery is dead again, took it back to the ebayer, which swapped it out to a new audio system, and my battery is dead again, anyone got any ideas? The display module behing the steering wheel is turning off after 20ish minutes.

Almost certain to be the Voice Control module linked to bluetooth not shutting down on locking car. Easiest way to prove it is debond ALL connected phones and monitor for a few days, if battery is Ok then you have found the fault.
Ford issued a software up date to rectify the problem

This problem was the same on Mondeo MK4 from 2008 to around 2011 (very similar electrical installation). Yes there were Bluetooth issues but some cars didn't have the blue tooth module in and its still remained on). It was very random in its occurrence.
It did it on my 58 Mondeo where one evening I noticed the display remained on and never had a flat battery and was intending to identify what was causing the display to remain on, but in attaching test instruments the fault cleared and unfortunately never reappeared. It is possible the instrument panel itself was faulty.

A good auto-electrical technician with a wiring diagram should enjoy the challenge of identifying the problem. If you were near me I'd give you a hand.

Disappointing that Ford don't know what it is as the Talkford Forum was full of owners with the flat battery syndrome, a few down to Bluetooth but more down to 'unknown'. However, we are in 2014 and the Mondeo is still suffering flat battery issues.

Do a search on Talkford forum for flat battery syndrome.
