2.0L TDCi 150HP to 180HP using forscan walkthrough

The engine between the 150HP and 180HP Kuga is believed to be physically identical and the only difference between the two is the mapping on the engine. Fortunately there is a way to change it using only a cheap OBDII adapter.

What you will need:
  • A laptop running windows
  • An OBDII adapter preferably wired and made for forscan.(Can recommend the vLinker FS USB)
  • A forscan extended licence(either trial or paid)
Steps:
  1. Turn ignition on, and plug the OBDII adapter in on the car and your laptop.
  2. Connect to the vehicle through forscan(create a new profile if nescessary)
  3. Clear current DTC's to see if new ones show up (optional)
  4. Go to the configuration and programming tab (microchip icon)
  5. Select PCM Module Configuration (Not the AS BUILT format)
  6. Make a save file of the options so you can revert in case something goes wrong
  7. Scroll until you find the Engine entry
  8. Change the value from "2.0L TDCi DW10F Power Rating 2" to "2.0L TDCi DW10F Power Rating 3"
  9. Write changes(turn ignition on and off when told) and move to the service procedures tab(wrench icon)
  10. Select PCM Initialization and run the procedure
  11. When finished, disconnect vehicle from forscan, remove the cable, turn ignition off, then start the car
  12. Drive the car for a bit then reconnect with forscan and check for any new DTC's.(optional)
Do this at your own risk as this is an unofficial procedure. Messing things up with forscan can potentially brick your car.
