Steering wheel lock

I use a disklok - see Disklok | Disklok

It's quite heavy and doesn't pack away as easily as some of the other steering wheel locks. And it's more expensive. But you can't get it off by cutting the steering wheel, and it takes some beating as a visual deterrent. And no one can scan it, capture a rolling radio signal or do anything else electronic to find a short cut round it - it's very old school (like me!)

As The Painter says, if you buy second hand, make sure you get two (or three) keys.

Thank you all for your responses.

Hi Fred,

In regards to the disklok are they easy to to put on and take off? Also what is a typical price for one if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers,

They're not too difficult to fit, once you're familiar with their bulk and how they operate. I don't find them any more difficult to fit than some of the other steering wheel clamping devices that are available. I'd say that because they're more robust and solidly made, they do fit together well and this makes fitting easier. Overall, I'd say that if you're looking for a robust steering wheel lock to keep the theives away, it's not going to be an elegant slim lightweight!

The last one I bought (last year) cost around ÂŁ100 new on Ebay. You should visit the manufacturer's web site and check what size you need before looking to buy. If you buy second hand, make sure you get at least two keys - one as a spare. You really don't want to have to cut a lock off if the only key goes missing!
