Inform the dealership you are rejecting the car, under the sale of goods act 2015. They have to fix ( which they can’t) replace or refund, do it TODAY .

Complete over reaction. It is just the 12v battery triggering that message. It is normal for the car TCU to shut down if the battery gets below a certain threshold which then turns off remote vehicle features. Nothing to do with the recall.

Knowing the dealers they can easily say book your car in for the fix, giving you a date a couple of weeks from now, once they have your car they can then say we are waiting for the part to fix it. Some have had cars, not necessarily Ford , in garages for months waiting for a ‘spare part’
Car dealers don't want cars cluttering up their storage when they are perfectly safe to drive.

The problem in this case appears to be that there IS a way of detecting the signs of this battery failure, and its written into the DRIVING software, but NOT into the stationary CHARGING software, which is why Ford say its OK to drive, but not to charge.
As for the future, apart from advances in the diagnostic use of machine monitoring (sound changes, detection of heat, changes in performance) which are already being implemented (e.g. tyre pressure monitoring), A.I. will be able to recognise (and cope with, by de-rates, warnings and other means) things which you describe as "outside the norm", but that's only in the research stages at the moment.
It is actually because the failure is most likely with a fully charged battery or under prolonged high load (such as pure EV driving). If you don't charge neither of these occur.

Your 12v battery is getting low that is all. It would be worth charging it. Also check the battery type - it is in the boot under the floor - post a picture on here and I'm sure somebody will help check it.

Nothing to do with the recall and no need to worry
He does need to worry if he is still plugging in and charging it, he needs to phone Ford customer service, that’s the only way to find out if the car is on recall. You should not be telling him it’s not anything to worry about when he says he is charging the car, are you paid by or indirectly paid by Ford?

I bought my Ford Kuga PHEV CVT on 3/3/25 and this recall has shocked me. I found out about it by accident researching what “Vehicle in battery saver mode. Please drive your vehicle to refresh status and remote features”- I’m no wiser. I have been doing mainly local miles just on the battery, topping up daily from a dedicated 13A supply. I’ve done two 40 mile and one 60 mile journeys on petrol.
I haven’t received a letter and had no advice from my Ford dealer. I’ve been very pleased with the car but am now questioning whether buying it was a good decision.

Don’t plug it in anymore till you know if it’s on recall or not, call Ford customer service, that’s the only to find out.

You are being silly now. I was responding to the message he was getting in his car and my response was correct for that message which is nothing to worry about. The problem he is having is nothing to do with the recall or whether he is charging or not. He is most likely to be affected by the recall, but Ford will not have his details yet as he has only just bought the car.

I have already said I do not work for Ford!

Thanks. I asked where the 12V battery was located but it wasn’t explained to me. I have a battery charger but it is very old and I am not sure if it is suitable for modern batteries

Those who chose to not understand are clearly small minded.
Since you choose to not understand them, you must be pretty small minded too...
Mind you, I am just returning your favor.

It is in the boot under the floor although there are connections under the bonnet that you can use for a charger. Old chargers tend to just charge at a fixed rate for ever whereas more modern ones charge in a smart way to carefully top up and maintain the state of charge. Lidl and Aldi often have perfectly good chargers in the centre aisle from time to time for £20 or so

Hello.
Firstly I'm glad to have found and joined this forum. Sadly our first post isn't going to be as shiny/happy as we'd like it to have been.
It's a lovely car...

But...

Yes we have recieved this notice and we are not happy.
I've been in contact with Foray Ford Yeovil who supplied the vehicle. Making sure that they know we are not happy, they have given me the contact details for the UK customer relationship centre, whom I will be sending a strongly worded email.

There is no point in having a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
If you can't PLUG IT IN.

Any green environmental gains - 99% GONE.
Any increased environmental and money saving MPG - 99% GONE.
The happy shine of owning an environmentally friendly vehicle - GONE

I will be waiting to hear what the UK customer relationship centre have to say whe i contact them, and will update in here.

I would suggest that all owners affected by this start to make strong noises.

Basically the vehicle is not as advertised.
It doesn't do what it says on the tin.
The legal term.
"Unfit for purpose" Will have your ford supplier sit up and take note.
Environmental gains and money savings are diminished, but not 99% gone. Just compare the 1.5l petrol figures to the FHEV figures. Effectively that is what you are driving when you're not charging from the socket.

Thanks. That’s very useful info. I’m still getting used to this car and finding out about it. I think I found the battery hiding under the spare wheel but charging from the engine compartment makes a lot of sense. Something else to search for.

Yeah this is good to know thanks.

Lower charge rates and not fully charging are clearly the things to be avoided as per the letter. Regenerative braking (charging) will never put any significant charge in the battery, even charging from the engine will only slowly charge the HV battery up to around 80% at best.
Thank you for the info

One ban now extended from 90 days to permanent as the banned member tried twice to register under different names but wasn't smart enough to use a different IP address.

Never mind.
Sadly the way of the world these days, bedroom warriors with nothing better to do!

After another useless round of phonecalls and emails with Ford Credit and Ford I'm done.

I've cancelled my Capri order and will be switching brands.

5 new Fords in a row but I'm done.

Yeah maybe everyone else is just as bad, but Ford and their subsidiary companies Ford Credit and TrustFord just blaming each other again has finished me off.

Vote with your wallet folks, big companies don't care about anything else.
