Mpg between petrol and diesel

Hi, My Kuga Titanium 1.5 petrol 148bhp 2019 is a disgrace, 21mpg in town and I have been told a remapping could achieve 5% better, that is ridiculous spending £300 to drive 10 miles more, but the question is if my mpg is 21 and the official one is 38, the gap is huge and I wonder if the ECU is faulty.

Hi all, I currently have a 2.0 tdci 148 bhp titanium, but possibly looking at changing to a 1.5 ecoboost petrol st-line. Does anyone have one and what mpg are you getting? Mines currently on about 82,000 miles and averaging 38.4mpg.

Any help and info is much appreciated šŸ‘šŸ»
You are lucky, my Kuga Titanium petrol 1.5 148bhp does 21mpg

Lots to consider here.
Lots or petrol owners do a remap and say it’s good. Long term you could gain it back.

We all have different driving so that’s something to consider. If you drive with slippers on and like a chauffeur then maybe it’s just that Kuga.
One more thing to consider is that the remapping has to be reported to the car insurance company which will be more expensive.
