My Kuga came with an Ignition key, can anyone please let me know the reason for this, I opened the doors with it, removed the cover on the ignition and inserted the key only to set the alarm off.
I then simply opened the doors with the key again only to set the alarm off.
Many thanks-Bob

IF YOU USE THE REMOTE TO OPEN THE CAR THE ALARM IS TURNED OFF. IF YOU USE THE KEY THEN I THINK YOU HAVE TOTURN THE "IGNITION" ON IN A CERTAIN TIME OR THE ALARM GOES OFF. I THINK ITS CLEARER IN THE HANDBOOK. REGARDS ... BRUCE.

Bob, my understanding is that the key, apart from being able to open the doors, is used to gain access to the engine compartment. I know from experience that trying to open the bonnet without it is very difficult.

If you unlock the car with the key fob remote you need to open the drivers door within a set time period or the car locks itself again. Perhaps this is happening to set the alarm off when you attempt to open the bonnet?
