Is it not similar like on older Kugas?

If not you have to find any moving part and try to pry it as a leaver to slide it out...

It's not I'm afraid, I can't even find a "photo" of the latch online, suggesting it's new.

 

It look's like on the latch on the right hand side there are two small black lugs which need to be pressed towards the left side of the latch and then it should be able to be pulled out towards you

 

Also you may have to pull handle in the same time when lifting / pushing something...

 

Is that a retaining nut on the right hand side. If so I would slacken it off and then it looks like it's clipped into place just to the left of the nut. Not sure if the white clips to the black or other way round. Looks like the retaining clip pivots on the left hand side.

 

I gave in and fisted the 6.5” hole to deaden it….

 

Brutal!
