Good morning
My car is due for its second service (4 years). I've got the Ford Protect Extended warranty and want to ensure that the cover isn't nullified on the grounds that the servicing did not meet their standards. I've been quoted £209 for the Essential Service and £600 for the full manufacturers service. Clearly, I like the cheaper quote but I suspect that service will not be acceptable. I tried to get some sense out of Ford Protect but they said that providing the service meets the manufacturers requirements it would be OK. Basically, does the essential service meet Ford's requirements and deep down, I think the answer will ne no. Any thoughts please?

I would be asking them for a breakdown of the £600 service. Take note of the labour and parts cost separately. Then go and price the same parts up at their parts department and you may get a shock.

My guess is the essential service is just an oil and filter change. If your car then had a seized brake caliper they would say it's because you didn't have the brake fluid changed.

Get a price from an independent using OEM parts. Ford are not allowed to dictate who can service the car but the servicing has to be done to their recommendations.
