If it was one bike, say for me. Then in to the boot with the seats down.

If it was more, then a tow-bar and bike rack is the safest way.

I don’t like roof / boot mounted bike racks/rails. Both appear to be waiting for “human error” to occur. Ouch expensive and annoying.

I had a Boardman mountain bike and with the front wheel off, it would only go in the boot, with the back seats down and the bike laid on it side.

I don’t like to see bikes on the roof, they always look precarious.

I’m 5’8” and need a fork lift to put a bike on the roof.

Tow bar is a great idea.

I was going to mention it but as the OP didn’t mention that option , I guessed they didn’t have one.
