Hi,

As we know, the cost of taxing a car is (as allways) going up.

I have heard the high polluters, such as Golf R32s will be going from £250 ish now, to £400 ish next year.

I also heard that 4X4s will be going up too. Does anyone know if it is a blanket increase on 4X4s, and will the KUGA be affected as it is an intellegent 4x4 so is only 4 wheel drive when needed, and when on road it is a saftey feature?

Cheers

Kuga is a relatively low emiiter to other 4x4s - 169 CO2 - band e below

VED for petrol and diesel cars
Band A (up to 100g/km CO2) no fee
Band B (101-120g/km CO2) £35
Band C (121-150g/km CO2) £120 £5 increase
Band D (151-165g/km CO2) £145 £5 increase
Band E (166-185g/km CO2) £170 £5 increase
Band F (185g/km to 225 CO2)£210 £5 increase
Band G* (226g/km and above ) £385 £100 increase

From 2009 Kuga would cost £175, and 2010 £180

Hi, as Ram said, it is not a 4x4 tax as it is purely emissions rated. The fact that most large 4x4's are high on CO2 is why they are being hit so hard. The Kuga currently has the lowest emissions in the class of small 4x4's
