I have a 2014 2.0 titanium Powershift 163bhp.
To be fair the car is fine and fully Ford serviced. However, I worry about the gearbox problems I read about once north of 60k due to some plastic components failing. If I was to buy a new (used) Kuga powershift, from what year model would I be sure im buying an upgraded model that doesn't have these inherent problems? Or is there no such upgrade?

I believe it is from 2017 onwards. If keithmac picks this up he will know for sure. Personally though if it was from 2017 onwards I would still be extremely careful in case any 2016 cars were registered as 17 when they should have been a 66 plate. I would be checking the build data on etis ford and checking the type of gearbox fitted. Mine is an MMT6 whatever that means.

I just checked two 2017 cars, one on a 66 plate and the other a 17 plate. Both cars have 6DCT450 - MPS6 gearbox which I think is the one that has the problem. Note the 66 plate was built November 2016 and the 17 plate in December 2016.

I then checked a 2018 car and a 2014 car. All have same gearbox code 6DCT450 - MPS6 which suggests to me if the gearbox has been changed then the code hasn't which seems odd.

Hopefully keithmac can confirm why the gearbox codes are the same from 2014 to 2018.

I fitted a 2017 gearbox and flywheel to mine. It will still be classed as a 6dct450/ MPS 6 just a later generation (which is no help!).

Gearbox code on top would be helpful FV4R 7000 AF on my new gearbox. (You might have to lift airbox out to see it).

I knew you would have the answer.
