Can anyone help me with identifying a button????

On the drivers door near the door release handle there is a button - the top half of the button is the electric folding mirror button (part of the convenience pack) but the bottom half of that same button shows the outline of a car and a 'beam' inside the car.

I have pressed the button and on the dash it said something like 'deactivating scan' or something. I'm guessing that it's something to do with the alarm sensors but I can't find anything in the manual about the button?

What is it and how do I know if it is selected i.e. on or off????

Page 37 of the manual:

Britain and Ireland only
The interior sensing alarm is armed
together with the central locking system.

To deactivate the interior sensors press
the switch next to the driver's door
handle.
