Has anyone managed to get a factory fit tow bar yet ?. My dealer has been trying forweeks without success. They have had to loan me a car with a tow bar so we can go on holiday. If you know of any stocks let me know so I can tell my dealer
Mine is on order. The car was delivered without the option, so the dealer is going to fitthe kitwhen it comes in.
Brakes, I haven´t seen how the rear end looks when a towhook is fitted, any chance of adding a couple of photos? Is the Witter unit removeable? Did the silver panel need to be modified in any way?
Hi, Dealer fitter mine while waiting for the DPF Modification. Came in cheaper than the factory fit option.
The Ford official part is removable and looks very neat.
Additionally the Ford Part includes the electronics for the Trailer Assist System to react if the trailer starts to snake. Before going for the Witter option, if TAS is important you may want to check whether the Witter links in to the TAS.
Yes the Witter unit is detachable and is great. The silver panelhas not been modified and it comes with a 13 pin electric plug. Dont know how to load up photos, sorry.
Interesting about the Witter tow bar. I have gone direct to Witter and my local agent who both say it is not available yet as per the web site. Sounds as if one half does not know what the other half is doing. I have complained to Ford about lack of availability and still waiting a response.
I have given up trying to get a witter tow bar. Spoke to our local witter specialist today and was told the bar went on the market this week but the dedicated electric kit will be another 4 to 5 weeks. Its a fixed bar only and is around 300 notes. When I ordered the car part of the deal was that if I got a tow bar the dealer would fit it free of charge. I phoned them today and have ordered a ford detachable bar with twin electrics (includes the TSC) and it comes in at 366 notes.
Well done, you beat my price... I got mine for 400 notes. The ford kit is best as it includes the Trailer Assist Protection electronics. Must say, we tow a Bailey Pageant Monarch Caravan and the Kuga is the Dogs B....s when it comes t towing. Get a TomTom with max speed alert to stop you getting nicked for speeding when towing ;-)))))
Still a good price for a ford bar. We only have a conway cruiser folding camper, its about 750 kilos. Never needed a stabilser but the trailer assist is worth having, just in case. Glad to hear its a good tow car.
Ford are currently saying that there are no Kuga detachable towbars available in Europe and that they are on back order, which could be weeks!
Does anyone know of a dealer with one actually in stock?
Also, if anyone has had a Ford towbar fitted by a dealer/specialist, have you got the fitting instructions for it? I want to see whether everything (electrical connectors, predrilled holes etc) are already in place on the car.
Dealer told me they are on back order and could take weeks, however the electrical kit could be obtained in 24 hours !!! I've also waited 7 weeks for 2 trim panels and still no sign.
Hi mondeoman. Got a phone call from dealer this morning .... towbar has arrived. When they fit it I will try and get whatever instructions they have and pass them on.
Hello All,
Good to read all the posts about towbars. I ordered a Ford detachable bar with 13 pin socket on Wednesday and the dealer originally said 2 days delivery time. Then, yesterday he said there was a back order and that they were coming from Germany. New estimated delivery time is mid next week so I will have to wait and see.....................
Iintend tofit the bar myself and wonder if the bumper needs to be cut??
