Your help would be appreciated please. I have a 2019 2.0 deiesel Titanium X (ex demo purchased from main dealer). I've recently had a towbar and electrics installed by the same main dealer, but when I purchased a caravan last week (reputal dealer, guy knew what he was talking about) I was told that the towbar installation didnt have a permanant live on pin No 9 at the towbar socket.
I understand the constant live supply is needed if the caravan has a particular stability control fitted (mine doesnt) and also to charge the caravan battery.
The Ford dealership (who I tend to trust, but clearly arent towing specialists) have basically said that in their opinion there is no provision on the Kuga to have a constant supply to the tow plug and although they could rig something up, it would be unusual.
Anyone else had this issue please? If so how did you overcome it?
Thanks

I do not know the electric in and outs of this but do know when using the dedication wiring the two 12v pins are in addition and when you specify dedicated wiring you have to specify these 12v in addition.
It is unusual for a main dealer to want to fit towbars in my experience.
Think best way is to take your car to a towbar specialist for him to complete the job correctly.

Thanks mad skiier that makes sense in the context of what the dealer has been saying about an additional loom (they felt it wasn't needed). I will return to them armed with your pdf! Thanks, most helpful

Thanks, will do. Is there any easy way I can check that the reprogramming has been done?

Alan O : You need it programmed, I had mine done (7 pin not your 9 pin) at Ford, 1hr charged.
Some good towbar people do it now.
I tells computer you have a trailer / caravan behind.

Put in reverse is the 1st one. If not programmed the reverse sensors will scream!
Did reverse a trailer once without pluging in & it did scream!

The Genuine Ford dedicated kit does have provision for the 2 12v feeds, I know as I fitted it to mine and it was all plug and play. No additional wiring needed. There are 2 modules that need to be added to the car though.

The dealer most likely farmed the job out and they probably haven't made all the connections as it's highly unlikely that they will have used a Genuine Ford kit.

Fords only fit genuine tow bars at factory, after that they are dealer fit and as most people have said they will farm the work out even the dedicated looms are not made by fords. you did not say if was a 13 pin or 7pin. I think that even if not programmed the socket/plugs will function until you go into rev.

This rings a bell on my previous Kuga, that had a towbar fitted - the previous owner warned about something like this, but I never used it personally.
Glad you can get it sorted (y)
