I've just bought a set of traction chains for my Mk3 18" wheels, and noticed in the Ford Kuga Mk3 brochure, that you must not fit chains on the larger 19" or 20" wheels. Clearance I suppose. On the 18" and 17" the chains must not be more than 10mm. Could come as a shock to some with the bigger ones if they sometimes need to fit them. I have them for going in and out of slippery farmers fields with the caravan if needed.

I bought snow chains for my Mazda 6 when I went to Austria. I found out after I bought them it is impossible to fit snow chains to that vehicle due to the gap between the wheel and the suspension. It was close and that was in standard 16" wheels.

10mm wheel spacers would have worked though.

You might be better off with some of these.

I nearly bought some but went with full winter tyres instead.

The chains look like a nightmare to fit.

The thought of trying to wrestle 4x snow chains on when its !FREEZING and soaking wet put me right off of the snowchain idea...
