Hi folks, first post (noob) I have a 2016 titanium 2wd 2.0 TDCi 150, love the car and now it’s out of warranty I’m debating whether to remap? I know lots of threads could cover this but just looking for some advice. Has anybody had any clutch issues after a remap. I had a subtle remap on my previous 1.6 TDCi mk3 focus and shortly after the clutch went at 60k mileage. Obviously I wouldn’t want that to happen. The car is only on 30k. Also did people think it was worth it. Currently get around 39mpg - 42mpg all the time as my mileage is mainly long runs. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Dshirt90.
Yes there's plenty of stuff on here about Remapping your new motor, Best thing to do is use the search button and have a quick read up on what others have said.
If you put your Kuga's details in your signature it will help others to assist you with your request too.
I think there are mixed revues on remapping?

Good morning @Happyarry thank you for the welcome. Iv had the kuga for 2 years, I was going to swap it after this time however it’s too good at everything it does to swap it! I’ll certainly add the details to my signature, thanks for the advice

Hi Dshirt90
welcome to the forum,as Happyarry as mentioned a few on here have remapped their kuga with one company or another I think the most popular is either Bluefin by superchips or quantum remaps if I can remember,if you do a search it will bring up what you are looking for.
loads of helpful and friendly folks on here so don’t be afraid to ask anything about the kuga
stay safe

With the blufiin you can put it yourself and take it off if you need to take it off £399 from Superchips if I do mine I will gain 42bhp and 73nm (177 bhp to 219 and 400nm to 473nm) that’s if I have calculated it correcty

I can confirm Bluefin works really well on a 1.5 150 PS ecoboost anyway but you should see even more power from the 2.0 diesel. I upgraded mine after owning it for 2 weeks new! It's just over a year old now and no problems (yet - I better say that!). I had one fitted to my previous 2.2 TDCi S-Max for 7 years with no issues whatsoever. Not sure if Superchips are open though during the shutdown though.

To be fair 219bhp is amazing from a diesel family car isn’t it!

Haha can’t believe you did that when it was new! I suppose the beauty is that you can take it off if it needs to go into ford for anything? Cheers mate I’ll have a look now and see what they are offering. Thank you

I have personal experience with Rica and Bluefin remaps on Fords. They are definitely worth it, the difference they made (on 1.0 and 1.5 Ecoboosts) was significant. Already did my Fiesta and -were not for the covid- my Kuga would be next.

As for clutch issues, Superchips (aka Bluefin) retains the factory torque limiters for 1st and 2nd gear for the sole purpose of protecting the clutch. Can't vouch for anyone else (even Rica), but Superchips chooses safety before performance.

Exactly! I first had a Superchip fitted to my Escort 1.8 Si 25 or so years ago! My Kuga is actually due a service now but Ford's on lockdown in Essex anyway so will have to wait a few months! (I'm on my work laptop via VPN hence the US flag on my profile! LOL). I think once I kept my map on for the Service one time but Ford's didn't even mention it. It's best to remove it though as they may flash the ECU (if it's under warranty for updates) and wipe over your existing map.)
