Work in progress, handy having a spare gearbox..

Would have been so easy for them to have made provision for one at the design stage, as it is it has to be 1mm perfect to get it in the right place..

The 6F35 torque converter auto on the EcoBoosts has the same problem- no dipstick for the owner to check the oil level. It's a really stupid omission.

Penny pinching at it's worst imho, plus the convoluted way to check the oil level on the Powershift is daft.

Hopefully all goes to plan and easy 30 second job to check oil from now on..

Will end up just next to that extended cover bolt (that is being replaced), easy access..

In for a penny and all that..

Set car level with spirit level down sill, set oil level by the book at 40c (was bang on).

Drilled my hole and took some measurements.

Interesting that 600cc cam out of oil level and exactly 600cc went back in, so if some numpty just undoes the level bung and doesn't refill the transmission properly you're over half a litre underfilled (seen it happen a lot a people swear blind you don't need to refill..).

Had to use a makeshift drill guide as the GRP plastic or whatever it is is a pain to drill (snags!).
