While replacing my side lamps tonight, I noticed that the wing panels flexed with the headlamp unit when I was replacing it on the car. I was now curious, so did a fridge magnet test, and sure enough, the front wing panels are plastic
I hadn't realised before. Just thought you might be interested.

This is not a new thing for modern cars as for one reason it can increase the ncap rating for safety towards pedestrians. It also reduces the weight of the car which will help the environment and save you money on fuel.

X-Trail and Almera Tino also have plastic wings. A mate has a 02 reg Espace and all the body panels are plastic. Which is why it is affectionately called the Plastic Pig.
