Hi folks, I know I have seen on the boards a previous message about heated washer jets, but last week when we had that really awful cold weather my washers wouldn't work at all, when I questioned it with the local dealer they said that I should put anti-freeze in with the washer bottle (which already has winter strength windscreen wash in). I wasn't too sure whether this is what I should do so wondered what you all think?

Thanks in advance for all your pearls of wisdom.

Hi Dragons Wings,
I wouldn't put anti-freeze in the washer bottle; it could damage the paintwork.
Add some meths; it can be a bit smeary, but its better than the washer fluid freezing.
Try 1 small cup-full to the washer bottle.
Just use when it is very, very cold (as it often is here in Cumbria!)

That's bad telling you to use anti-freeze as I agree with mountianman on this one, even some normal windscreen washer fluids undiluted can cause damage to the paint work on a car. Did you use one of the ready mixed solutions if sotry a different brand as I had the same problem a few years ago with a ready mixed solution that was meant to be ok in real cold weather. Soon solved the problem with another brand that you made up yourself depending on the current temperature.
