My 2007 Mazda 6 had some ford bits. Unfortunately the dpf system was Mazda's. The rest of the car though was extremely good and possibly nicer put together than its Mondeo alternative.

PSA diesel engines are generally known to be decent. All brands share engines.

My freelander had the BMW TDI engine. The mitsubishi outlander the VAG TDI engine. Ford / volvo share the 2.5l petrol in the focus ST (I believe).

Not Sure what my diesel 180 engine is in the 67 Reg Vignale but it’s a stonker.

Aren’t Peugeot diesels supposed to be one of the best anyway.

anyway, buy a Jaguar and have Ford switches and so on.

Back in the 90's the 2.3 Mondeo petrol engine was Yamaha...

In my days at Volvo the 2.8l V6 petrol was a joint venture between Peugeot Renault and Volvo. The Volvo version was absolutely the best, having had a little breath of Volvo tech on it, compared to the Renault 2.5

It's a good proven engine and a collaborative effort - why redesign something that works :)
