My 1.5 Ecoboost Kuga is ever so slightly overdue it's service so I'm looking at doing it in the next few days. The question is what engine oil should I be using? The handbook specifies a Castrol Magnatec oil meeting wss-m2c913-d, which appears to be a 5w-30 oil.

However, Castol's own oil checker recommends a 5w-20 oil that meets wss-m2c948-b. This same recommendation comes up from Petronas, Comma and Mobil.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I've just had mine serviced at the Ford dealer and if I look at the invoice it says Pro E 5W 20 4.05 litres @ £9.65 per litre.

All Ford Ecoboost engines specify 5W/20 ..
5W/30 is equally suitable, the thinner 20 sae is for reduced drag (better fuel efficiency)

Just make sure whichever oil you use is within the Ford spec for your engine.
You can't just go on the viscosity.

The problem is the Ford specification in my handbook is for a 5w-30 oil but everywhere else recommends a 5w-20. I've just spoken to my local Ford dealership and even they're saying it should be a 5w-20.
