Have done just over 100 miles in brand new kuga and engine malfunctiion warning and loss of power - major disappointment - waiting to contact dealer tomorrow but only expecting being fobbed off - anyone similar experiences?

This seems to happen quite a bit on some new cars, and is probably due to a faulty sensor. If you check this Technical section you will find similar faults and different solutions. In most cases it's a hook-up to the diagnostic computer to see which sensor is playing up and what repair is required and the job is done.

Don't let it put you off, it can happen to any new car! I saw a BMW X6 stopped on the motorway with the hood up last week!

Cheers!

Thanks for the encouragement.

It's with the dealer so will let you know the outcome.

As you say a great car - just knocked the shine off it a bit.

Good News - panic over for the moment.

Problem was a bad connection on the engine mappoing system.

Drove home 10 miles all appears well.
