Like the title says, i have a Blaupunkt system in my mk1 but i want to upgrade it to a better one. is there any way to change or adapt the radio unit without losing functionality (e.g. climate control and steering wheel functionality)

Picture of my radio system for reference

Ive got an aftermarket panasonic ouch screen radio in mine. It was fitted when I bought it and the steering wheel buttons still work fine except that the 'voice control' button doesn't seem to do anything. My guess is they are designed to work with already existing functions.

Hi mate,

It's possible but a but of a headache to do it. As the climate controls are built in, you would need to get the separate climate control unit from another kuga/ford as well as the internal cage and faceplate to fit it. Then you can add a double din unit. Once that is done you'll need to tell the car that it's not an all in one unit anymore with something like forscan which plugs into the obd port.

Hope this helps!
