Just a quick warning to anyone it may concern. Do not treat your Kuga'a bonnet with too much care. Yesterday I had cause to open the bonnet on my 6 day old beast, so, being careful i closed it softly to and pushed it the remainder of the way by pushing down gently. That I thought was taking care of it, that was until this morning when I saw a nice dent where I had pushed.

I have just returned from a trip to "dent devil" who kindly re-shaped him back. A very uncomfortable lesson. Let it be mine and nobody elses.......

Just found this topic on the search.

Did the same to mine last week, gently dropped the
bonnet and gave it a gentle push to shut the rest of
the way. Went into garage, walked back towards kuga
and noticed a lovely dent were I pushed the bonnet !!! Brilliant

Went to local ford dealer to see about getting sorted, they
said would have to be a full repair and the whole
bonnet would have to be sprayed £400!!!
Taking it to a dent remover tomorrow to see if
they can sort.

Found a very small dent on the bonnet of my brand new Kuga, whilst taking delivery. Only just spotted the dent in the florescent strip lights it was parked under. Obviously someone (prob PDI checkers) had pushed the bonnet to close it and as its fairly thin so it bends.

30 minutes later and their dent doctor contractor called in, dent pulled out.
Driving the Kuga home I'd had forgotten all about that, until now.

So for many years I've always just drop the bonnet from a few inches away and never push it home

Cant remember the last time I pushed a bonnet closed just for that very reason. Always let it drop the last 4-6inches. If it doesn't catch I open it again and let it drop from slightly higher.

Bet you really wanted to hear that now

Just hope the dent center can sort it !!! Fingers crossed.

When I went to ford for them to look at it, the
guys comment made me think that this is a common
accurance!!!! The bonnet skin does seem very thin!!

Manual - page 133 (Czech version) - free translation:
To close bonnet release it from open position, close partly and let it drop freely from 20-30 cm.
