I have mk1 2009 Kuga without auto lights. Can I replace the swtich/module with one that has auto lights? Is that doable, does it require additional steps or is not doable at all? I know it's fairly easy for VW/Skoda/Audi.

Good point!
It might be doable to install the official parts or you may have to fit some sort of LDR (light dependant resistor) / light sensor, but could be bad news if it turns off your lights when a car approaches you.
I personally wouldn't risk it, unless I could get official parts and install it correctly so the lights behaved correctly.
