I was reading the Haynes manual about changing brake discs and to my suprise it said that you should change the brake carier bolts. In all the years I have changed pads and discs I have never changed these, I have always cleaned bolts and added blue thread lock and torqued to spec. They are not stretch bolts so why change. Opinions please.

If they are the same as mine then chances are once they have been removed once there's a good chance next time you may need a grinder to remove them.

Mine is a a male torx head so you need a female torx socket to remove them. E12. They have been removed once but they don't want to come off again. I tried..

Whoever came up with using what can only be described as a motorcycle bolt should not be designing anything to do with cars and need to go and work with washing machines. Hopefully yours has got a 6 sided hexagon bolt, as it should be.
