An early Christmas pressie for me.... a tiny stone has chipped and cracked my windscreen.
Seems to be stable at the moment and not getting any worse so hope to leave until after the winter. Nothing to be gained by having it repaired as there are loads of cracks of it anyway. Luckily the bonnet and roof escaped any damage. ![]() Edited by BruceKuga - 24 Dec 2011 at 5:00pm |

Probably caused by that low flying aircraft in the front garden.

Was on the Tilbury Dock Approach. I had just washed and leathered the Kuga, hoovered it and preserved the leather, then ... crack...
Was when I drove past a lorry. The road was covered in salt from the previous night... Didnt know that solar reflect cant be repaired.

The A13 has to be one of the worst roads for your windscreen acting as a magnet to stones. This is the norm using this and surrounding roads, so sorry to hear this happens to others to, but I'm not surprised.
![]() Stone chips on the bonnets are plentiful as are windscreen replacements for me. Me old Vectra had 5 replacement windcreens in 5 years. My Focus has had 4 windscreens and one repair in 6 years, so I shouldn't temp fate and mention the Kuga. But all being corrected and sorted well by Auto Glass, even had one screen replaced under warranty with them. But I've taken a few "hits like bouncing bombs across the screen" in the Focus over the last year, and will have to get that replaced soon, but holding out for improved weather or a crack developing. ![]() But with the Focus a few year back, I put it in for an MOT when in for a service with Essex Ford. I thought that the crack in the windscreen was outside the area that's important, but they failed it! Not even a courtesy call to say, "that won't get through the MOT sir", before they MOT'd it. So they carried on like robots and attempted to take my money. So after a lot of moaning and misunderstanding by them on a re-test, got a free MOT test the following week, after screen replaced. Anyway here's a little web link to explain more on the windscreen MOT failure front for your info (and I guess where the law might stand also): http://www.glassdoctors.co.uk/windscreen-repair/2008/08/19/will-my-car-pass-the-mot-with-a-chipped-windscreen/ Edited by KugaSpud - 24 Dec 2011 at 8:33pm |

Just had my windscreen replaced. It cracked from the base, not from a stone chip. I called my insurance to sort out, as Ford "Customer service" were not interested in the slightest quoting the guarantee, 1000 miles or 3 months. Never mind. Dented my faith in Ford a little. But reading stories about Fords C/s on here, I wasn't overly surprised. What gets me, is when you see videos of the design chef talking up "marvellous designs, etc etc" but there's no point in making a fantastic product, if you cant support it with good customer service, whether it's at the point of purchase or on after sales.
Never mind. I digress. |

When you do get it replaced make sure you get the right screen. The original Titanium screens and glass had the blue tint but if memory serves me right they stopped the blue tint on the glass in later ones. It certainly wouldn't look right if you get the wrong one

That dreaded A13, Im honestly not looking forward to driving my Kuga down the A13 when I go back to work next week. Hope to see a few kuga peeps on the road. Do most of the people on here have car stickers in Essex? Thinking of getting one!

Luckily the AutoGlass chap asked if I have a blue tint before sending out the mobile unit. Pity that's the only thing they got right! |
