most colours are its because they are plastic and the rest of the car is metal

Just like to point out that the front wings and top section of the tailgate are plastic.

Apparently plastic parts are treated differently than metal parts, yes I knew that too, an adhesion promoter has to be applied first so the paint will actually stick, perhaps this base coat reacts with the paint that covers it and fades it slightly? any paint technologists here to confirm Yes/No?

Thanks for the replies, went back to the dealer, agreed there was a definite mismatch, took a few photos, said there wouldn't be a problem, just waiting for ford to give them the go ahead to respray front and back bumper and lower end of top tailgate. So far so good.

If yours are metal, youve got something thats had a dodgy repair with non Ford parts.

yes sorry they are plastic i thought they was metal lol but thats the reason for the cream bumbers all white cars are the same i thinks the wings are made of different stuff because bumpers need to be strong with stones chipping up

Hi all the colour of the bumper should not be drastically different to the body, Fords will have shade cards that they are allowed to sell buy off to an engineering spec, as other people have pointed out the wings and the boot are also made of plastic, Fords paint quality department will have a quality level paint match that the can sell off to, if you are not happy take it back to the dealers and have a word, if you are still not happy with the outcome request for a paint inspection from Ford |
