Looking for some help here guys. Does anyone know how a Towbar is bolted onto the kuga , is it a similar fit to the Mondy or does it bolt flat onto the back panel or just to the underside.
The Mondy bar has two side arms that slide approx 20 inches into two channels which are then secured using three bolts each side then the bar is bolted to that. I am looking at a couple on fleabay but I am unsure what I should be looking for . Has anyone got pics of one fitted ie where it's bolted to or a copy of fitting instructions cheers |

(Niall has been thinking about towbars since the moment he realised that the new Kuga, replacing his old Focus Estate, didn't have a towbar fitted, and that Niall was getting too old to be lying around on the ground trying to fit one himself, apart from the fact that a whole heap of Scotch-Locs were probably NOT going to help the electrical installation this time round!! Niall has been on the PF Jones site a LOT since buying his Kuga!!)

So has Any1else. And he would like to ask Niall what he thinks of the wiring for the towbar. Any1else is going to buy a Westafalia bar for transporting bikes avec a ball mounted carrier and was going to get the single electrics kit that comes with the bar and buy a separate bypass. The wiring diagrams show plugs and connectors but I assume that these are for the car specific wiring that is £60-£100. Does the kit that comes with the car require ample Scotchloks and headscratching or is it pretty straighforward? |

When I fitted a Westfalia 'simple' kit to the last ('55-plate) Focus Estate, the bar itself was fitted in almost no time (once I figured out how to get the bumper off).
Fitting the electrics, using Scotchlocks (something I always believed I would NEVER do !!!) took me the best part of the rest of the day - and that was for a 'simple' (standard) 7-pin socket. Now, for the Kuga, I think I will be fitting a full 'vehicle-specific' 13-pin socket, and will run an adapter lead as needed for any trailer with 7-pin electrics. The only reason I am holding off (still) is if I am going to 'pop' for a PowerShift upgrade at the end of the year - in which case money invested on THIS Kuga would be a waste, I would just get the towbar fitted to the replacement Kuga (providing I can get the same spec. as I already have, but with a PowerShift 'box, and pre-2011 'facelift' bonnet and boot) Cheers, Niall |
