I need to transport my daughters horse down to her new home in windsor therefore I need a tow bar. Cant decide if I fit one myself or have one fitted so need a reccomendation for a fitter near wigan so I can price my options. Also any reccomendation for make of self fit towbar that does not require any cutting out of bumper etc.
Thanks in advance

Shop around, but if they do have to cut the bumper its only a small cut, and you would have to lay on the floor to see it. Leave the tow bar on it when you sell.

Go to Ford Fit towbars on the forum and select BruceKugas name and he has a comparison on tow bars in picture format which clearly shows the neatest fit and no need to cut where nearly all the others do including those fitted on the production line

I recently fitted and removed a towbar on my Focus, and just removed one from my Kuga. The fitting of the tow bar itself is very (very) easy. HOWEVER I would not advise anyone to tackle the electrics. The electronics on modern cars makes the electrics highly complex, to the point that the towbar's electrics looms actually replace and integrate into the original equipment electrics. And so they should as features like the Kuga's Electronic Stability Programme works on the trailer when correctly wired, which is a superb safety feature. But with relays, thin wires et al there is no splicing these days and it's so complex that I have actually left the total towbar electrics on the Kuga!

I bought a 2nd hand Ford quick release Tow bar complete with 13pin Ford Electrics and fitted it myself. The mechanics are a simple bolt topgether and the electrics simply plug in between the existing loom and the left and righ rear lights and the rear fog lights. I didn't bother with the battery charging and fridge supplies, nor have I had the stability control reprogrammed as I only occasionally use a small 500kg trailer behind the Kuga but it was an easy job to do.
There is a small cut out in the bottom of the bumper for the Ford Tow bar but there was a template in the kit

Hi Carl, Very encouraging to see your confident success re Ford original (Bosal-Oris AK11) tow bar electrics. I just cannot fathom out how to remove the wirings without risking causing a problem within the electrics/electronics. Can u guide me to some electrics installation instructions, as I can't find anything, anywhere? Thx
