Summary Industrial dust; Instruction on how to remove industrial dust particles and other airborne contaminants from the paintwork on contaminated vehicles
TSB No : 21/2009
If a vehicle is stored for a long period of time in an industrial area, ashes, industrial dust and other airborne contaminants (sometimes ferrous) can be found on the paintwork. Due to a chemical reaction, these particles can embed into the paintwork. Industrial dust is visible as tiny dust particles. When touching the paint, the texture feels like sand paper.
This Technical Service Instruction provides information on how to remove these kind of dirt particles.
This is my favourite one - the remedy is to claybar the paintwork - but I don't think you could quote this one to the dealer to get them to polish your car

Summary New Oil Specification - WSS-M2C913-C
TSB No : 10/2009
A new engine oil with the specification WSS-M2C913-C has been released. It is fully backwards compatible and is strongly recommended for all applications that currently require the specification WSS-M2C913-B. The new engine oil provides various benefits to the customer such as improved fuel economy benefits and high robustness to biodiesel fuels.
Excellent Fuel Economy - Increased by 0.5% when compared to WSS-M2C913-B Fully backwards compatible with WSS-M2C913-A and WSS-M2C913-B. Offers fuel economy benefits even in vehicles that have been serviced for years with other engine oils. 913C oil is strongly recommended for all warranty, recall and any free service work. Benefits in detail:
Increased Robustness to Biodiesel
The 913C specification no longer allows oil manufacturers to use shear unstable viscosity modifiers, all 913C oils must now stay in grade during their operating life in the engine. This change has been driven by the increased percentage of biodiesel now allowed in standard European forecourt diesel. The European diesel fuel specification, EN590, allows up to 5% biodiesel and France allow up to 7%, with Germany also raising the biodiesel allowance to 7% from the 1st January 2009. The new 913C oil must be shear stable to ensure that the required oil viscosity and hence engine wear protection is maintained in the presence of 7% biodiesel.

Summary Engine malfunction warning lamp illuminated on the instrument cluster; Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P269F present
TSB No : 63/2010
Build Date: 05.05.2010-09.09.2010   Build Code: AJ-AB
Should a customer express concern about the engine malfunction warning lamp illuminated on the instrument cluster, the probable cause is a blown fuse due to fuel vaporizer component internal short circuit caused by a fuel vaporizer overheating. The overheating is a result of a lack of fuel in the fuel vaporizer fuel line ahead of first Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration.
Furthermore Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P269F - Exhaust Aftertreatment Glow Plug Circuit/Open - is stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
To rectify this concern, a new fuel vaporizer system should be installed in reference to the instructions detailed in this bulletin.

Windshield wiper blades smearing or not cleaning properly, juddering / noisy

Should a customer express concern about wiper smear or not cleaning properly during operation, the probable cause is a dirty windshield glass / rear window glass or defective / worn wiper blades. Particularly in new vehicles, the concern of wiper smear or not cleaning properly may be caused by residues of the wax coating applied during production, which is removed over time.

Simply cleaning the glass and wiper blade with the suitable cleaning product and method might cure the concern.

Should a customer express concern about the wiper blades juddering and/or noisy the probable cause is an incorrect wiper arm angle or a dirty windshield glass / rear window glass or defective / worn wiper blades.

Further to this, if a new windshield glass or rear window glass is installed, or if the wiper arms are removed and installed, the wiper arm angle should be checked and adjusted according to the instructions in this bulletin.

This TSB includes a wiper blade and wiper blade contact angle check using special tools 501-027 / 501-027-01/02.

General Information:

• As the composition of vehicle window glass is different to that of normal window glass, household cleaners should not be used.

• Only Ford original spare parts fulfill the stipulated requirements. Do not mix different windshield washer concentrate products.

• With the glas polish listed under Parts Required with Finis Code: 1 713 185, silicone residues can also be removed from the inside of the windshield

Comments are around tools to measure the angle of the wiper arms and also that the one piece wipers need to be treated carefully (easy to bend them)

NOTE: The angle of the wiper on the scale MUST point from the zero center line to the center of the windshield glass / rear window glass. Ignore the plus/minus (+/-) signs on the alignment tool.

• NOTE: Make sure that the three marked points of the special tool are in contact with the windshield glass / rear window glass.

Using the special tools, read off the angle between the wiper arm and the windshield glass / rear window glass.

  • Carefully position special tool 501-027 in conjunction with 501-027-01 with the inserted wiper arm on the cleaned windshield glass / rear window glass.
  • Read off the wiper arm angle from the scale and compare this with the relevant angle in the table below. Kuga angle is 5 degrees using the special tool

Body side moulding loose or becomes adrift - Right-hand side rear door (front area)

Should a customer express concern about a body side moulding coming loose or becomes adrift especially in the front area, the probable cause is insufficient adhesive tape applied in production. To rectify this concern the affected body side moulding should be bonded to the closure using the repair adhesive kit.

Production Update

Revised body side mouldings and adhesive tape have been introduced since 10/2010 (build code AR) in all affected assembly plants.

I think "Kevin Uga" has been rumbled - I (sorry he) can't access (view) TSBs anymore (even for non-Kuga cars) - unless maybe Ford have solved all their technical problems and there aren't any anymore....
Wink

Strangely have tried creating another account for Kevin's brother Keith Uga and he can't access TSBs either ....
