There I was travelling back home on the A303 the other night doing 70 in the outside lane when I saw a dark shape fly up over the central res, following by a massive bang. I had a look when I got home but couldn't see anything obvious, so thought I'd escaped - until today.
I was cleaning the glass roof and I noticed a massive chip out of the roof - obviously caused by this stone that got flicked up from the other side.
I've just phoned Autoglass and they can't repair it because it's not the front windscreen and a replacement roof has to be done by the manufacturer.

Has anyone had experience of this? I'm just checking to see if my insurance includes glass cover

Bad news.  Dont know if roof can be repaired but Autoglass in Essex do replace them.
When I had my windscreen replaced, the fitter had recently replaced a Panoramic roof on a Kuga.
As far as I knowthe roof isn't covered by the windscreen cover.  You will claim against your normal insurance, as if it was a metal roof!!
Good luck.

Well national windscreens came out today and had a look - replacement it is. Sounds like an all day job, but from the conversation I had with them and my insurer (admiral) it's covered under my windscreen (glass) cover as its a window/sunroof.

Just got to wait for the glass to be ordered in...

Good to hear the news from Admiral, that is our insurer for the Kuga.  I had always wondered what happened to chips etc on the panoramic roofs.

With more cars starting to sport these roofs and I presume much larger bills than for windscreens/sunroofs, I doubt it will be long before insurers start specifically excluding or charging a premium for them.

yes, I did specifically say panoramic roof when I called them and they said yes followed by the words sunroof is covered, then National windscreens said, yeah we can't repair that, so replacement is the only option which will be your windscreen excess. I've not heard anything about a delivery date yet though

All done and dusted, I dropped it off at the depot across town from my workplace and they handed it back (brought back to my office) at lunchtime. They advised me not to wash it for 24 hours (I assured them that it wasn't a problem! )
