Yes apparently according to the supplier of my first Kuga the response from the service dept there was       "nothing to worry about . . . . it's just a characteristic"

this is a common problem with many kugas as the rear light seals are prone to perish even on some new models allowing moisture in and thus condensation forming not much you can do other than get your dealer to fit new ones but beware it may happen again Cry

Hi
I see a lot of talk regarding water/moisture ingress of the rear light units.
I too get that when washing car at this time of year when outside temperatures are cooling down, and it seems funny that both tail light on the same side mist partially at the same time. Now as I have removed rear light to check for any problems I found no reason for any moisture to enter from outside but as the bulb holders are vented to inside airspace there is a very good chance that the warm moist air from inside cabin is migrating to a cold spot on the outside of car which would only be visible on light units. To check this theory run hand over any bare metal on inside of rear wing.I think the only way to minimilise condensation is to limit the use of the cabin air circulating button and give the aircon a ten minute run at least once a week,in winter this can be run with heating on to dry internal air.
Of course the windows will mist up if you get in car with wet clothes etc. but air con helps this. The other reason could be a fisherman carrying home a bucket of fresh trout in the boot.Or is that just wishful thinking.

I have just checked mine but sadly could not find any bucket of fresh trout.  Smile

I do have the little hole in each light cluster.

I must have missed that one - where is said 'little hole'?
(my '10 plate mists up when washed, but not irritating me too much)

Cheers,
Niall

My apologies.  Just checked and it is not actually a little hole, just looks like one but doesn't go all the way through.  No idea what it is for now.

Have a 3month old Kuga with rear lights misting up. Dealer has informed me that Ford warranty dept now say this is normal as they are a vented unit and not sealed. Has anyone else been refused new units under warranty ?

Ford don't care, they will replace the lights until the warranty is out
