Hi There, drive down to london everyday from Huntingdon and am averaging 49.5mpg on my year old 2 litre diesel. Normally hit the cruise control around 65ish mph and sleep Shocked oops sorry i should say watch the world go by. Have had 50+mpg but that was running at 55-60mph on long drives

Poor mileage is not that surprising with Kuga weighing in at just under 2 tonne, our only hope is (for next time?) that Ford get their fat stubby fingers out and develop power units that will reduce today's eye watering motoring costs . . . . pronto!!

it doesnt help having the aerodynamics of a breeze block either ( but then again all vehicles of this type do ).

Was considering going into the Dragon's Den with an idea to reduce the co drag (cd) of vehicles, smear them in virgin olive oil, just so they glide through the air much easier, problem here is, anyone seen the price of VO oil recently?  Wacko

....and it would drive the detailers mad , just think of the amount of microfibre cloths they would need

If you don't reset the AVG MPG trip for a long time, do alot of town driving and your MPG is down in the low/mid 30's then go on a long journey it will take the AVG mpg a long time to recover up to the actual MPG you have acheived over the long journey. Just someting to keep in mind.

Best way to work it out is manually over a tank or two and not rely on the display.

Looks like all the manufacturers suffer with un-obtainable MPG figures

Morph, I think manufacturers put those figures out not as actual figures that they have attained but a kind of challenge for their customers.

Bob, I sometimes wonder if this whole MPG thing isn't frustratingly similar to the "what dress size are you?" question to many ladies........so many of my friends used to blag about how they were a Size 10 for instance, when they patently obviously and visibly were a few dress sizes larger than me at a 12/14, so a size 10 they definitely were not LOL.......methinks there may be a similarity with the MPG issue.  I'm not a rubbish driver and have achieved excellent fuel consumption on many other vehicles, so why not with the Kuga?  I know you get a similar consumption to me and it is very disappointing for such a titchy little engine as a 2l!! Like another poster said, as well, I didn't choose a Kuga in order to travel at 55mph up motorways, think about stopping a mile in advance and never use the brakes - the car should deliver a reasonable consumption with reasonable use.

So I'm lying, is that what you're implying?
