Hi Norolis, a 'Y' cable will do it nicely. If your head units works in the same way as mine, the Sony DAB, you'll be able to skip tracks, play pause etc. can you do playlists on the shuffle? Alternatively if you have an iPhone you can Bluetooth music instead with the same functions.

Hope this helps.

Hi Norolis,

Welcome to the KOC Forum. More than enough post on the old iPod Y Cable, in the "technical" section, like this link to a cable I used from e-bay, which does the job well for me iPhone with iOS5.

Hope this helps, anyone in the towing section too. Smile

Hi Folks,
Thanks to all who replied to my technical question, the ipod shuffle 4th Gen. only has a jack output and standard USB for connection so require a cable with jack input to ipod and usb/3.5mm jack to car, the cable suggested has a larger type female USB, any help?

Thanks

If your Kuga has the USB port I wouldn't have bothered with the ipod. Just get a large USB storage device dongle thing, loaded it with music, plug it in and everything will come up on the display. No cables and no messingThumbs Up

"4th Generation iPod Shuffle" - well, as I take it from your description, it looks as if Apple has maintained backwards compatibility with previous iPods   -   N O T !!!

So much for Apple being 'user friendly'.

Sorry, but my experience with the iPhone (and my ONLY experience with an 'Apple' as a paying customer) has left me with the opinion that Apple is right down there with Arnold Clark.

Not very helpful, I know, but my psychologist does tell me that my problems, shared, are problems halved!!

Cheers,
Niall

Hi, and welcome.

Y cable from ebay works fine for the kids' iPod touch 4th gen.

Personally I get by just fine with a USB stick - went for the HP v165w which is really tiny in size and only sticks up by about 15mm when in place so much less chance of it getting knocked about when fumbling for other things in the storage box.  Really simple to rip the CDs using Windows Media Player and then copy across the file folders.

Also discovered by chance that there is sample music on my mobile phone which syncs to the Sony DAB via bluetooth so that could be another option.

I've just seen that someone else was having the same problems as me ie an iphone worked fine until I upgraded the software on it... in my case to IOS5.

Basically the Sony radio wouldnt show the signal strength, it would be a bit random about making & receiving calls, would refuse to connect sometimes etc... but I'd NEVER had a problem until iTunes updated my phone.

Anyway I followed this link & 20 minutes later everything in the world of bluetooth & iPhones is back to normal... Happy Days...

Hope it helps someone else :)

Apologies if its a repeat post but it's saved me from throwing the phone out the car window!

Mike

Hi,

Have Titanium with Sony DAB + Bluetooth/USB.  My Blackberry 8900 bonds perfectly with BT and shows up in the Sony control panel.  I can see all aspects of the phone (in, out, missed calls etc, address book); BT plays music from the phone with no problem.

I can receive incoming calls.  However, when I try to make outgoing calls, I get 'Call Failed' every time.  This is normally a cell signal problem, but even with a full signal indicated (both on panel and on phone) this happens.

Had no such problem with Mondeo / Sony 6000 / BT, although couldn't use phone as MP3 player via BT in that one!!  Can't find anything in audio manual and Ford website has no technical info ...

I have tried reflashing with the latest BT software, but the panel says it is already up-to-date.

Anyone got any ideas as to what might be happening??

Thanks.
