You dont need to worry about the support leg issue IF you purchase an Isofix child seat with an additional "Top Tether" fitment which is basically a strap with a hook that comes out from the upper rear part of the child seat, goes over the top and down the back of the rear bench and secures to the floor in the boot.  Not sure if top tether is available on 0-9 month seats but certainly on the stage 2 (9 months onwards) seats!
Was driving a fully loaded Vision Blue TDCi Titanium AWD...Now driving an Ice White S-Max Titanium X Sport TDCi with plenty of toys too! But keeping a close eye on the next Kuga!

Some interesting points in this thread.  I had not heard of the new inserts for the underfloor storage.  I did contact my local dealership a couple of days ago and they made no mention of it, so if anyone has more details that would be appreciated.  I'm new to this baby stuff and buggies/car sets etc are a complete minefield at the best of times and Ford don't make matters easier.

Ultimately, it would seem that if you have a young baby you have very little choice about what IsoFix seat you can use.  When the manufacturers state explicitly that their products cannot be used on a Ford Kuga I do start to think Ford messed up a bit.  I believe that Britax have an (that is one) IsoFox seat but people have expressed concerns of the angle of baby when seated.  Looks like I'll have to ditch IsoFix and use the seatbelt versions instead.

Hi - if you check the Maxi-cosi site it tells you which vehicles it will fit in.  Unfortunately no the maxi-cosi bases will not fit in the Kuga because of the underfloor storage in the floor.  As both the maxi-cosi bases need to use a support leg it is unsafe as the kuga does not have a solid floor.

Sorry if this has dissapointed you, the Maxi-cosi seats are really good and using an isofix base does make it so much easier.

Hiya,

We have the Maxi Cosi Isofix child seat and it fits in the back of the Kuga just fine.  We put it in during the test drive and it's very easy to get it in.

We've got a Kuga on order to fit the Maxi cosi Wink

We have the family-fix with the Maxi-Cosi car seat fitted to our Kuga from the time our child left the clinic, no problem. From what i understand there is only a problem if you remove the foam thing underneath the rear passengers footwell. Maxi-Cosi are playing it extra safe that is why i think they don't list the Kuga as suitable.

There is quite a limit on choice, but went to mothercare today for a fact finding mission. Anyway, we tried a familiy fit base and cabriofix seat, but it kept alarming on the floor stand. The sales lady wouldnt recommend it due to the underfloor storage thing and the angle looked a bit wrong (I guess the isn't helped by the leather seats being slightly different) any who... I think the recaro base is supposed to fit (it's in the kuga parts catalogue) does anyone use the recaro base? If so - does it fit ok and is that with or without the leather? Mothercare don't seem to hold demo recaro bases, so need to try and find out a bit more! (no rush just fact finding at this stage!)

I'm not sure if the base we have is the family fit base but it's definitely Maxi Cosi.  The "leg" has a height adjustable locking collar, you need to fiddle with this (which isn't that easy, two handed job) before the "leg" indicator thingy goes green.  But it will go green with the Maxi Cosi, and the Angle of the seay will look normal.
