Yep, agree with the other guys, a very good tow vehicle as high and stable. Mpg goes down as expected but we probably get around 30 mpg when towing our 5 berth Avondale Dart. Our Kuga is the 2 WD not 4 WD so I guess a little better Mpg but wouldn't be as good on slippy fields I guess!

I have just bought 4 roof cycle carriers but not used yet and a bit nervous about getting 4 up there!

Happy towing Smile

I've stopped trying to get two hybrids bikes onto the roof. I did catch it once and no more.  OK I am the wrong side of 60 but trying to balance a bike overhead on/off the roof on a set of steps on a rally field became too much.  I'll save the bars for the roof box and either get a pair of folders or just bike when I'm not towing with the bikes on the towball mounted rack.

Hi all,
I posted last July that I was towing an Abbey with my Kuga. Changed to a new Kuga couple of months ago and it's now the 163 engine so should be a bit more powerful for towing although the old (135?) engine was great. Haven't tried the van on it yet but the dealer transferred the detachable towbar from one car to another with no trouble.
By the way the new car seems quieter than the last. Both were Titanium X. Also the heated seats in the new car seems MUCH better.

Just towed my Coachman Wanderer 17/2 for the first time, seemed pretty good. Previously towed it with a Mondeo Estate 130 diesel, which was an excellent towcar so my Kuga has a lot to live up to. But it's 4wd so it'll come into it's own once we're on a muddy field.

Well towed today for the first time with my 2 month old Kuga taking my Bailey 460/2 MTPL 1170 for 80 miles to trade in for a Fairway 544 MTPL 1430 which I pick up Wednesday. I got 23.7 miles to the gallon...mostly motorway . From the posts I was expecting nearer 30 ! The only way to measure towing mpg is to reset the mpg when you hook the caravan up and read it before you unhitch. Clearly many look at overall holiday mileage which totally skewes the average. Am extremely disappointed...towing speed 65 mph. Will report return mpg tomorrow.

Well I'm impressed with you guys towing twin axle vans with a Kuga! We used to tow an Avondale Osprey with a mk3 Frontera, then we moved to a motorhome for 6yrs and a little Panda 4x4 for the wife!

Now wifey wants to go back to a caravan, so we part-ex'd the Panda and collected our Kuga tonight! (Bought a towbar & electrics off ebay last week). Off to look at part-exing the motorhome for a side bed/end washroom 'van at the weekend!

Looked at Lunar Lexon SE, Swift Challenger 570 or Sport 544, plus our local dealer does a dealer special on the Sport! Although the car tows 2.1t the 85% 'limit' is only around 1400kg which limits things abit. However having read about the wonderfull Kuga stability control progamme plus the Alko TSC AND WHAT YOU GUYS TOW I think there's nothing to worry about!

Thank you all for the positive reports and a confidence boost!!
Frozen white 4x4 Titanium X with Appearance Pack. Carbon effect badges & number plates - Nice! (Now with towbar & 13pin electrics)
