Topic: Haldex oil changePosted: 22 Jan 2012 at 9:09pm |

Hi, I am trying to find out the service interval, both miles and time, for the oil and filter change for the Haldex gearbox in the Kuga. Also any idea of the additional cost, on top of a normal service.
Thanks

Can't see any mention of the Haldex or transmission system during the 7 years of services other than visual checks.

Hi I have had a complete new Haldex unit fitted to my Kuga over Christmas. It let go with no warning at all so I would say this is quite important to find out about an oil change. I was told the electrical module was £500 + vat and the full haldex unit would have cost around £1400. They also said it was delayed a day for special oil so I'm not sure what grade/ spec that is used. I have had my Kuga from new and is a 59 plate and had just under 28000 on the clock. Lucky this is a warranty part as I expected the this is not covered line.
Since this part has been replaced the car is doing 3mpg more than before in the same conditions. The Kuga is also much more responsive than before. Did I have a fault from new I keep asking myself. |

I know its not the answer to your question but my old Audi A3 Quattro had a haldex unit and it was an extra £150 on top of a major service (at Audi) to get it checked and the oil changed.

Hi, thanks for the replies regarding my question. Audi/VW seem to have very specific service specifications (oil and filter change) for the haldex units, I presume in order to keep them functioning correctly. So I amsurprised that Ford do not.

The Audi S3 pre 2008 uses generation II Haldex and post 2008 uses generation III Haldex.
The Kuga uses generation IV - this might be why it has different service levels
Might have a bit more checking later ...
